Milk Bone
Since I have two dogs varying drastically in size and typically choose smaller sized treats, this time around I chose the large Milk Bones to satisfy my 80-pound pup, Miah. I would be surprised to meet a dog parent that hasn’t yet heard of Milk Bone, since it has been around forever: 1908 to be exact!
I received a full-sized box of Milk Bone Original Biscuits in the large size, meant to serve dogs that are over 50lbs. Each bone delivers its classic crunchiness alongside 12 vitamins and minerals to help keep your dog healthy and happy. What I also love about the size and crunchy texture of these bones is that they help Miah actually chew it rather than swallow it whole, that way the bone is able to clean her teeth and freshen her breath.
The box contains 24 ounces and in fact I counted them out to 19 biscuits (I’m sure every box varies), but that’s more than month worth of treats since I don’t like to overdo it with too much treating. I was happy to see none of the biscuits were broken, but that wouldn’t have mattered much since my dogs would have devoured it nonetheless.
As soon as I pulled out the box and opened it the first time, both of my dogs went crazy! We broke a tiny piece off for our smaller dog, Rylee (10lbs), but I would recommend the smaller size since these are very difficult to break down. I was very happy giving these to Miah and will continue until they are gone.
I will however not purchase Milk Bone Classic Biscuits, since the top ingredient is ground whole wheat, and my poor Miah has allergies associated with grains. On the other hand, after looking at Milk Bone’s other treats, I would be more than happy to purchase Milk Bone Trail Mix for Rylee and Milk Bone Farmer’s Medley Grain Free Turkey & Pumpkin Biscuits for Miah. So, with that said, there is no real issue with the classic, but it’s just not the first option for Miah’s health.

Nudges
Nudges believes that the number one ingredient in their dog treat should be protein, without any of the unnecessary artificial fillers or flavors. The creators developed these treats with their own dogs in mind, to ensure only the best for their fur family member and now can be shared with everyone. That’s exactly how I would want it for my fur babies, because there is no better way of saying “I love you” (other than cuddles and playing) like a delicious healthy snack.
We headed on over to our local Kroger to find a variety of Nudges and landed on the unique flavorings of Nudges Soft Bakes with Real Chicken and Blueberries.
The soft bakes are fun shaped soft biscuits that immediately smell amazing right out of the bag. The aroma of blueberries almost makes it seem like these are made for humans. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever smelled a more delicious dog biscuit. Of course, the oven-fresh smells made both of my dogs go crazy and I was more than happy to indulge them in some treat giving.
I love the unique ingredient of blueberries, and chicken as the number one ingredient with under ten ingredients total. This treat is definitely a winner with its short list of ingredients.
The soft bakes are easy to break apart, which is recommended for dogs weighing 5-10lbs who only get ½, and for a dog like Miah who weighs over 50lbs get 2-3 treats, just one will do! It is recommended that you use all these treats within 30 days of opening, as each is made with fresh ingredients. I love the unique flavor pairings and the endless variety of treats such as Jerky Cuts, Grillers, and even Crunchy Bakes to name a few.
Nudges still contains grains such as oats and barley, and while less than Milk Bone, I still wish they made a grain free option. Just like the Milk Bone treats, given in moderation it won’t affect Miah severely, but I will designate these to being a Rylee treat only as I want both of my dogs to feel happy and healthy.
Nudges is made with all-natural ingredients, including USA-sourced protein that contains no animal by-products, artificial flavors or preservatives. So, when your pup gives you a nudge, nudge them back with a delicious healthy treat!

Nature’s Recipe
This is the first introduction of Nature’s Recipe into our household with a full-sized sample of their wet dog food, Chicken Recipe. Nature’s Recipe has dedicated 35 years to crafting recipes that include carefully selected ingredients so that our beloved pets can feel their absolute best. Each recipe is made with natural ingredients and real meat, without artificial flavors or preservatives.
Wet dog food is a great way to feed picky eaters, dogs that have a problem digesting food or those aging pups. We haven’t had to completely switch to wet dog food just yet, as our little aging Rylee is missing some teeth, but can still very much chew dry dog food.
Just like dry food, she consumed it just as quickly and absolutely loved every lick of it until it had vanished from the bowl. I love the real, visible portions of chicken and how easy it is to get her to eat.
The Chicken Recipe In Broth adds the essential vitamins, nutrients and minerals to promote healthy skin, easy digestion and fuel your dog for the day. I think the feeding guide is a little bit off, though, because our 10lbs dog doesn’t need that much. In fact, you should always speak to your veterinarian to get actual food requirement and measurements to assure the best health for your loved ones.
Nature’s Recipe offers a wide selection of wet and dry dog food that come in a variety of flavor pairings and even grain free options, which you know I love for both wet and dry dog food. Overall, this savory wet dog food was a hit, and I will keep this in mind if and when we do need to make that switch.
