Tarte Mystery Mixup Discovery Set

Tarte Tuesday! (Spoilers ahead!)

The Mystery Mixup Discovery Set from Tarte Cosmetics is a mystery 6 piece set that includes 3 full size products that equals to the value of $130 for only $54. The value of the palette almost covers the cost of mystery bag. I took a chance having purchased other mystery bags from Tarte before.

𝔽𝕦𝕝𝕝 𝕊𝕚𝕫𝕖
Clay Play Eye & Cheek Palette Vol. 2 $45
Color Splash Lipstick in the shade Colada $21
Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara $23
Remix Bag $10 / On Sale for $1 Today

𝕊𝕒𝕞𝕡𝕝𝕖
Travel-Size Maneater Liquid Liner $12
Travel-Size Rainforest of the Sea Drink of H₂O Hydrating Boost $14

Total is added up to $125 with the Remix bag only being $10 so not exactly $130 as stated. The Makeup Bag is based on the Pro Remix Palette design, so I would have loved to see that in this mystery bundle. This bag is only worth a $1 right now on their site as of 12/17/19. I couldn’t find it by simply searching on their website so that’s a bit odd, but the link is provided below.

Purchase the bag here https://bit.ly/2YVWESG

Is it worth it? Ehhhh It’s very basic set with neutral colors and the classics like their mascara and eyeliner sample. I’ve seen this before with Tarte’s mystery bags so I’m not too surprised. I think it’s a great deal if you want this palette or to build your collection. I don't have this in my collection so I don't mind too much.

It’s still available and I personally think it would make a great gift for the holidays for any Tarte/makeup newbies. Find it here https://bit.ly/38N26vN

Bye Bye Blemishes | Erno Laszlo

Bye Bye Blemishes! This set has been my go-to summer night routine and still is as we head into the fall. I’ve struggled with acne my entire life, even into my thirties, so making the choice to select this starter kit from Erno Laszlo has been a perfect fit. I wanted to give Jessica from the Laszlo team a big thank you for reaching out and inviting me to be a part of the “Laszlo Icons.”

This is not my first experience with the brand as I had tried and fallen in love with their Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar, which is a powerful cleansing bar that instantly refreshes and balances your skin’s oil with 26 minerals. A definite must in anyone’s routine!

Now back to the kit. What’s inside?
Exfoliate & Detox Pore Cleansing Clay Mask
Exfoliate & Detox Light Controlling Lotion (Toner)
Exfoliate & Detox Pore Refining Detox Double Cleanse
Hydrate & Nourish Phelityl Night Cream

Plus other little goodies like an adorable scrunchie, stickers and Marilyn Monroe’s skincare ritual. It's evident that Erno Laszlo has been around for quite some time helping such icons as Monroe, Greta Garbo and even Audrey Hepburn.

To start I used the
Exfoliate & Detox Pore Refining Detox Double Cleanse which includes a formula of super fruits like pineapple, Jujube and kiwi that help clarify and smooth skin. This cleanser reminds me of the Sea Mud Bar, but with an easier application and a nice lather.

I followed this with the Exfoliate & Detox Cleansing Clay Mask, a mineral enriched, pink hued, creamy mask that was easy to spread and set comfortably on the face for the 15 minutes. It is a relatively lightweight mask that works hard to remove impurities but leaves your face soft and hydrated from the rosewater. I love masking so I was happy to see this included in the kit!

Next, I applied the Exfoliate & Detox Light Controlling Lotion, which is a toner that removes surface oils and heals skin with anti-inflammatory botanicals that support natural tissue repair. Even though it contains Alcohol Denat. it did not strip my skin of hydration, but I have oily skin so maybe it could be harsh for sensitive skin.

Lastly, and of my favorites of the set, is the Hydrate & Nourish Phelityl Night Cream. This one is a lightweight formula that soaks right into the skin without any greasy feeling and works hard to match one’s skin pH and restores naturally found fatty acids for a glowing complexion. It can also be applied to the neck and decollete area for an encompassing nightly moisturizer.

I’m honestly upset that I love these so, because each product is quite pricey for my teacher’s budget, but definitely worth the investment for my skin. After a month of use and the stresses of daily life and the process of moving I found this ritual to combat stress acne successfully. Overall, if you can indulge, I would suggest you try Erno Laszlo out even if it’s just the Sea Mud Bar. These are exceptional skincare products that work strikingly well!

Thank you Erno Laszlo for this experience and I’m happy to be an honorary #LaszloIcon

This is a sponsored blog; Erno Laszlo provided complimentary products to leave my honest review.

Elizavecca Moisture Hyaluronic Acid Memory Cream

One of my favorite brands, Elizavecca, is back again with Moisture Hyaluronic Acid Memory Cream! This pretty light-blue cream takes its name from the fact that the formula has shape memory, meaning no matter how it’s been stirred or mixed up, it returns to its original form over time.

It contains a potent combination of naturally occurring and moisture-boosting Hyaluronic Acid, Allantoin, and Adenosine. The Allantoin and Adenosine in particular provide powerful anti-aging properties by helping to hydrate, smooth wrinkles, soothe, heal, and protect the skin from ultraviolet light.

As usual, it all comes in Elizavecca’s uniquely adorable packaging with a cute tiny spatula!

Just to observe the “memory” part of this cream, I started out by giving it a good stir until it was uneven and clumpy in the container. Right before my eyes, it began to smooth out and recombine until it was like I’d never touched it. The bouncy, jelly-like cream is actually fun to play around with in the container and is actually a nice sensory experience.

To apply it, I removed it in a gel-like clump from the container using the nifty spatula, which had an instant cooling sensation that melted away with the heat of my skin as it turned into a moist, clear liquid. Once fully applied to my face, I also noticed a very faint floral scent that’s pleasant, but not overwhelming or off-putting at all.  It absorbed rather quickly, but didn’t completely sink in, so my face felt soft and hydrated.

Going in, I expected it to be a heavy cream and problematic for my oily skin, but I have yet to experience any clogging or other adverse reactions. Based on my results, I think this is a great moisturizer for people with either dry or combination skin.

It’s also worth noting that alongside the very gentle main ingredients, this product is completely paraben, sulfate, alcohol, and allergen free. Just a small dab is enough to get total coverage, so it’ll be a while before I need more, but I’ll certainly be turning to Elizavecca Moisture Hyaluronic Acid Memory Cream again in the future.

L'aturajeu Cactus Daily Facial Cream

L'aturajeu Cactus Daily Facial Cream is the latest part of the growing cactus extract trend in beauty products I’ve had the pleasure to try out. This great ingredient is a perfect fit for a facial cream, since cacti naturally have to retain huge amounts of water to survive, which means excellent moisturizing properties.

Not only does this cream help pack in moisture during your daily routine, it’s able to hang onto it throughout the entire day thanks to the included hyaluronic acid and shea butter. Furthermore, cactus extract contains roughly eight times as much Vitamin C as Aloe Vera, an antioxidant that adds tremendous anti-aging benefits.

Giving this a try for the first time, I immediately noticed that it settles nicely onto the skin without any greasy feeling, which is perfect for applying makeup afterwards. There’s also a nice, soft floral scent I caught during application that is just right for anyone sensitive to perfume-y aromas.

I can also attest to the claim that it works with any skin type, dry or oily, since I have oily combination skin and it still worked out wonderfully to provide my face some much-needed nourishment. As for the longevity, my skin still felt soft and supple even after a long, hectic day of teaching preschool!

The cream is also extremely gentle and safe for use since it’s free of any steroids, parabens, or phthalates. It comes in a really simple, yet sleek tube, which leads to my only minor complaint. In the right light, I could see that the packaging was only about half full of cream, which seems a bit wasteful.

All that said, L'aturajeu has definitely found a winning combination of ingredients for this facial cream, and I’d highly recommend it to anybody looking for an effective daily moisturizer. It’s available now at Amazon for less than $6, down from $20, so it’s the perfect opportunity to give it a shot!

Allure Beauty Box April 2018 + Bonus

Hello! I am a little late posting my Allure Beauty Box Subscription not only because I have been busy, but my box also always arrives the 3rd week of the month. I've been a subscriber for almost a year now, so I was surprised and delighted when I received an email that I would be receiving a "special gift" for being a loyal Beauty Box member.

They chose to send me two of their (Allure) favorite products from Paula's Choice Skincare; completely separate items from what I would be receiving in my normal box. I never knew they treated their subscribers to extra goodies! This is surprising, since by comparison I have been with Birchbox for 6 years and never received anything like this from them.

So let's get into all the goodies I received this month:
Nudestix Gel Color Lip & Cheek Balm
The Original Makeup Eraser
RAHUA Classic Shampoo
RAHUA Classic Conditioner
Stellar Brilliant Primer
Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturizer

Extras
Paula's Choice Skincare Resist Vitamin C Treatment
Paula's Choice Skincare Self-Tanning Concentrate

Nudestix Gel Color Lip & Cheek Balm
Nudestix Gel lippie in the shade J Mama is a warm-toned blush nude that glides easily, and with it's glossy sheen, provides hydration without the stickiness. It also contains lip-protecting plant oils taken from sunflower, rapeseed, cottenseed and soybean. Since it's rich in antioxidants from Vitamin E, the balm feels great on both your lips or your cheeks. I was hesitant putting wet, glossy balm on my cheeks in fear it would make my skin look oily, but once lightly blended on the cheeks the sheen is gone and leaves a light matte shade. Overall, it gives wonderful coverage and barely-there feel.

The Original Makeup Eraser
This is a finely fibered wash cloth that gently removes any and all makeup. In the box I received a 4" x 4" sample size of the original that can fray because it's not lined, but I found it's great for throwing in your travel bag. This super fuzzy and soft cloth feels great on your skin. Just add warm water and wipe! Care instructions are simple in that it's machine washable and will last (3-5 years) for the original full sized cloth, which measures at 8" x 16". Think clean, think green. Replace throw-away makeup wipes or liquid makeup removers with this reusable cloth.

RAHUA Classic Shampoo
Rahua Classic Shampoo contains sustainably sourced Amazonian ingredients that help to restore and revitalize your hair. It works great with all hair types, even colored like mine, to leave hair feeling soft, luminous and repaired. Earthy aromas fill up the shower as you gently lather it into the hair that are derived from the Palo Santo Oil. I think it's perfect for sensitive skin with it's beneficial ingredients like vitamin E and aloe to help maintain a healthy scalp. It's also sulfate free.

RAHUA Classic Conditioner
Rahua Classic Conditioner works great when paired with Rahua Classic Shampoo to hydrate and lock-in moisture. The conditioner smells amazing with it's earthy notes and just a hint of mint. I am fussy when it comes to conditioners because there seems to be a hard line that they either do or don't work. With this, my hair instantly soaked up the creamy formula leaving it soft and manageable. This conditioner passed my biggest test by detangling my frustrating, pin-straight hair. Furthermore, it contains amazing ingredients like jojoba oil, quinoa, and aloe.

Stellar Brilliant Primer
It's in my nature to dive right into trying a product out before doing complete research, so to my surprise the white tube fooled me into thinking this would be a classic white-to-clear primer. Think again! Stellar Brilliant Primer is a shimmery, light pink hue that has tiny luminescent glitter. Just a little bit goes a long way, and it glides easy over face to blur imperfections and fine lines whether you wear makeup or not. It's got a silky finish with beneficial ingredients that include grape seed oil, aloe, safflower seed oil and ginseng root extract.

Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturizer
Korres Pomegranate Moisturizer is perfect for oily to combination skin, which in my case makes it a perfect moisturizer to turn to. I immediately fell in love with the soft pomegranate scent and how it instantly soaked in, leaving my skin soft and moisturized. This is a stark contrast to other moisturizers that claim to tackle oily skin, but ultimately leave my face feeling dry. It also combats acne with hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid to leave skin hydrated and without irritation. This has be one of my new favorite skin care finds!

EXTRAS

Paula's Choice Skincare Resist Vitamin C Treatment
Paula's Choice RESIST is a spot treatment that targets problem areas such as hyperpigmentation, dullness, wrinkles and fine lines. It claims to visibly reduce brown spots and I would suggest continued use to see that over time. I have some minor spots and fine lines that I will target with this product as I use it for my nightly routine. It's fragrance free, cruelty free and has no dyes added. If you are going to use this in the morning, always follow it up with a sunscreen (SPF 25 or greater) to boost the effectiveness.

Paula's Choice Skincare Self-Tanning Concentrate
Paula's Choice Self-Tanning Concentrate is a unique product since it can turn any facial or body moisturizer into a self-tanner. Easily control how much how much color you want by adjusting the amount you mix in. Inside contains a good amount of  dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a common ingredient used in self-tanners. I love this idea since I don't tan and have no interest, but I do occasionally like to dabble in self-tanning products to boost my skins color during the warmer months. The color develops over several hours and provides a long lasting natural tone without sun exposure. This product has been discontinued, but you can still find it and purchase it before it's all gone!
