CLIF Builders Protein Bar Chocolate Mint

What I really liked is the fact that Clif Builders Protein Chocolate Mint bar doesn’t have that overpowering taste of chalky protein that others do. I was also on the fence at first because I don’t really care for anything minty, but this was actually palatable!

The chocolate to mint ratio is well balanced making it a delicious treat. The texture of the bar is nice: not too chewy and has a bit of crunch. Although they've introduced new packaging they still contain 20 grams of protein to get you through your post workout.

I was really anticipating having my boyfriend try this out, since he loves all sorts of Clif bars. His first impression was that it tasted very reminiscent of an Andes Thin Mints, in that the mint flavor was well-balanced and not overpowering.

Typically, he’d never try out anything that mixed mint and chocolate, so it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise for him as well. He also let me know that he especially likes Clif’s Builders Bars because they have a good texture that’s not as unbelievably chewy as other protein bars.

In the end we both really enjoyed this bar and can’t wait to try their other flavors out such as Vanilla Almond or Chocolate. You can find these and more at clifbar.com! Thank you to Bzzagent for giving us the opportunity to find a new favorite protein bar!

Nasoya Toss’ables Balsamic Vinaigrette

This chance to try out the brand-new Nasoya Toss'ables came at just the right time, since I'm changing my diet and have been on the lookout for healthy grab-and-go lunch alternatives. Toss’ables are pre-seasoned and baked tofu cubes that can be added straight to any dish you want as a meat replacement, from salad to pasta and more.

Keep in mind that they’re also vegan, gluten-free, certified organic, have no preservatives or cholesterol, and are still packed with 14 grams of protein per serving. There are two varieties available right now, Balsamic Vinaigrette or Garlic and Herb, but I was only able to find the vinaigrette in stock at my local grocery store.

The first dish I tried out with Toss’ables was a quick salad, by mixing them in with some organic power greens: kale, spinach, and chard. I found that the seasoning was spot on and very flavorful, especially if you already like the taste of Balsamic vinegar. I felt that other than adding baby tomatoes and possibly carrot shavings, the salad needed no dressing since the cubes were already so powerfully flavored. I’d say the cubes are just the right size, and yes it tastes like all other tofu and has the usual spongey texture.

Next, I decided to add the Toss’ables to some home-made ramen with a Ocean’s Halo seaweed-based broth. Since I typically throw chicken into the mix, I decided to give the Balsamic cubes a go in the broth. I thought it was a nice touch, but as far as flavoring goes it didn’t work well and I thought the Garlic & Herb would have fared better.

In the end, I really think that the Balsamic Vinaigrette flavor just wasn’t for me, and I’d have a better experience if I were able to try out the Garlic and Herb style. Tofu is an undeniably healthy source of protein, and I love that Nasoya offers it organic and preservative-free, so I can’t wait to try the second flavor and incorporate it in some new dishes.

STōK Protein Espresso Cold Brew Coffee

Anytime is the right time to coffee up! STōK Protein Espresso Cold Brew Coffee has just the right amount of cream to coffee ratio, with a shot of espresso to awaken your senses and give you the edge you need.

Their responsibly sourced grounds are steeped in cool water for at least 10 hours, which removes any acidic taste or bitterness, ultimately resulting in its smooth flavor. Don't worry about the espresso taste, either, since it's barely there.

In my opinion, it tastes mostly like a lightly-creamed american coffee, and doesn't have any chalky texture whatsoever. The coffee also comes packed with 16 grams of protein, which equate to 2 large eggs and a slice of bacon. Since I don’t really eat eggs and wouldn’t dare touch bacon, this is a great alternate source of protein!

This is not just for mornings, although it is easy to pour into a travel mug be on your way, but can be enjoyed anytime, even if it’s late in the night and you need an extra boost to finish that paper! This drink has an amazing taste, which isn't too sweet nor too creamy; a good balance for those who aren’t black coffee drinkers but just need a little something-something.

Overall, STōK Protein Espresso has been a winner in our household (there will probably be a fight to decide who gets the last cup), and it’s a delicious way to get your daily value of protein and calcium. We're also really excited now to try out STōK's other cold brew flavors!
