Daily Goodie Box August 2017

Good Evening!

I was excited to find out I won a box when participating in a Facebook contest a while back, and this is my first box ever. I decided to take the unopened box with me on vacation and it turned out to be a lot of fun. My boyfriend and I tried every single product together, which was a fun bonding activity. We both wrote down our thoughts and I was able to incorporate them in my reviews. Each and every product in the box was new and interesting to me and I can’t wait for an opportunity to receive and review another box! #latepost

I am a bit hesitant to try Palo Popcorn Premium Cheddar Cheese popcorn because the image on the packaging is very unappealing and looks like dried earwax. However, don't judge a bag by it's cover because the popcorn is beyond amazing! The cheddar cheese is sharp and, like it claims, every kernel was completely drenched in it.The popcorn tastes like it was just popped thanks to the fresh sealed bag. I love the fact that these are made in the cheese state of Wisconsin and are non-GMO. I find that the amount of popcorn in the 3 ounce bag is plenty since it's such a rich flavor that fills you up. Forget the napkin, the remaining cheese is finger-licking good! Overall my partner and I loved the popcorn and have picked out other flavors on their website to try in the future.

I was very curious as to what Wat-U-See Popped Chickpeatos in the flavor Caramel Sea Salt would even taste like. The packaging is very appealing and I love the upbeat imagery; it seems youthful and like a fun snack. Never having tried chickpeas, I was skeptical if I would really like these. Upon opening the bag there was a strong scent of sweet caramel which made me more willing to give these a chance. The appearance of the puffs are like the ones you feed to toddlers, but this is a snack for anyone and everyone. I will say I am a little disappointed by the blandness after just trying a few, even though they claim bold flavor. The outer powdered layer, which is the caramel flavor, seems to fall off or stick to your fingers resulting in less flavor once the puff reaches your mouth. I am not one hundred percent in love with this, but I do love the fact that it is organic, only 100 calories and proceeds go to a good cause. I can see switching to these for healthier snacking and would definitely recommend these to mothers. The best part is that portion of purchase goes to feeding families and children in need.

I gave my boyfriend the Balla Body Products for Men Body Powder in the Tingle Formula to try and he didn't really see the purpose of it. His initial reaction was “what is this?” and “what do I do with it?” After having to look up more information about it he tried it out. Prior to trying powder, he already disliked the scent and said it smelled like strong cologne, something he already doesn't wear. Moving along, he applied the powder in several areas, said there was no tingle and still didn't see the point. Curious to see if his claim was true, I pushed past the nasty stench to try it on my skin to no avail. So, it's basically overpriced and funky smelling baby powder.

I am in love with Healing Hydration Detox Water! I received the Mango flavor and it tastes just like the real thing. I was skeptical on the Aloe because I have only heard that in skin care products. To see it in a water product sheds a whole new light on the plant. The drink offers great benefits such as electrolytes and vitamins, but also helps aid digestive health, nutrient absorption and strengthen immunity. So just like applying a lotion with aloe vera, this drink will help improve skin health. I loved the taste and it left me wanting more, so I can't wait to try their other flavors. After doing some research on where to buy it, I wish it were more accessible!

I tried the Honey Stinger Cran-Apple & Walnut snack bar in my goodie box and I thought it was really tasty. First, opening the packaging it smelled amazing and I enjoyed the not-too-chewy texture. I was a little hesitant on it having walnuts because I really don't like them but they were in small enough pieces that they complimented the other flavors and textures. The bar is a perfect size for when you need a quick snack with low sugar and 3 grams of protein. The best description is that it tasted like oatmeal with bold flavors of cranberries and apples.

I love using organic lip balms and I find that Goddess Garden organic lip balm with sunscreen makes my lips feel soft and protected. I am constantly suffering from chapped lips no matter what season it is and here in Michigan we go through every single one. The design of the label looks simple, professional and would have shelf appeal. The flavor I received was Lavender Mint and it's just light enough of a scent for those who are sensitive to not be effected. I like the short list of ingredients and the fact that this doubles as a sunscreen. With 30 SPF, this is more than the average lip balm and is great for the health of your lips even if it's accidental sun exposure such as driving in your car or sitting next to a window. It is recommended that you apply liberally to your lips 15 minutes prior to sun exposure, but if you're anything like me that isn't an issue. It's a great lip balm to keep on hand and I would love to try out the other varieties from Goddess Garden.

I often suffer from anxiety attacks so I am always on the lookout for products that can help me deal with them. I like the fact that this magnesium supplement is a natural way to reduce stresses. I tried the raspberry-lemon flavor and though it was subtle and refreshing. My boyfriend also tried it and liked the faint taste, but said it made his mouth feel dry instantly. We both agreed that we liked that it was natural so we felt there was no harm in trying it and I personally will do anything to reduce my stress. Overall it seems like a great product and it’s effortless to add to my water during a rough day.

I really wanted to like Davidson’s Organics Coconut Vanilla Dessert Tea since I love vanilla and coconut, but the buttery flavor is just distasteful. I managed to drink half a cup and still couldn’t get over the taste, so I gave it to my boyfriend. He thought it smelled great and although he steers clear of anything coconut the taste didn’t bother him. He liked that it’s caffeine free so he can drink it before bed. Ultimately, I wouldn’t drink this again, but my non-tea drinking boyfriend might go for this.

I tried FlapJacked Protein Smoothie Mix, and although I couldn’t bare the smell I didn’t mind the taste at all. My boyfriend on the other hand really liked it. He said the taste is much more like a real chocolate shake compared to other products he’s used. However, one thing we could agree upon is that the shake has the same chalky texture as every other one we’ve tried. We like the simple ingredient list and the protein content seems on par with other products. Overall we feel it would be an upgrade, but the price is extremely high for how much product you get in one container.

Lastly I received Curoxen First Aid Ointment in my box being that it’s the first-time hearing about the brand. I always like to try all-natural remedies and this is the first alternative I have seen to typical ointments that you find in the drugstore. My boyfriend got a few scrapes while working on my truck this weekend so we got a chance to try it out. He said it doesn’t sting a bit and the cream was easy to apply. So far, it seems to be healing nicely, and will definitely be adding this to first aid kit.
