My Cup Of Cake - My Cup Of Cocoa

Although I was anticipating the arrival of My Cup of Cake, I instead received a delightful My Cup of Cocoa, a dark hot chocolate powder. I love the pleasing design of the graphics and the simplicity of the cardboard container. It definitely reminds me of a cozy homemade product and company. Inside, the contents are sealed in a foil wrapper for protection. It’s limited to just two ingredients, sugar and cocoa, and is non-GMO and gluten free, making it simply great.
There are two ways to create the hot cocoa; with the stove top or microwave. We like to use 2% milk in our household to give it that extra creamy, chocolatey taste. However, if you’re looking to cut calories or are lactose intolerant, you could use almond milk or water. I am a lover of all dark chocolate so this was decadent, rich and enjoyable. Even though this isn’t too sweet, dark chocolate contains more antioxidants that are better for your body than milk chocolate. I’ve already had two cups since it arrived, and there are still 2-3 servings left. This hot cocoa perfectly pairs with a warm blanket while relaxing this holiday season.

I spend a lot of time going outdoors and traveling in the truck with my dogs, which can be a real mess. Especially when the snow thaws and we’re left with a muddy yard. This really let me put Ezywipes to the test by cleaning up my pup’s dirty paws after tracking through the yard into my truck. The wipes come in a convenient resealable tube that contains 8 little compressed dots that you magically add water to expand. I dumped some water from my water bottle on to the tablet and easily kneaded it out into a towel in my hands.
I found the towels to be really absorbent, it soaked up all the dirt and mud from both of my dog’s paws with just one. I also loved the fact that I could reuse it a couple more times before I threw it out. I also used the same wipe before entering the house to keep paw prints off the carpet. I love the fact that it’s sustainable and ecofriendly which I look for in all the products I use. These are the perfect size to keep in your purse, vehicles, camping gear or just around the house so you’re always prepared. I’ll be keeping these in my truck, but I do want to purchase more for my boyfriend’s vehicle as well to keep us covered for all our dog adventures.

I was most excited for these out of anything else in the box. Out of the packaging the first thing I noticed was that these chocolate covered Oreo cookies were extra THICC.
There was so much chocolate! As I was trying these my boyfriend stole one from me and devoured it, I jokingly asked for it back and he told me “it probably even tastes delicious on the way back up.” Honestly though, these cookies are decadent and I will seek them out and purchase more, not only for myself but for family and friends to try.

Tiger Balm - PainRelieving Patch
Tis the season to take some time to yourself and relax, but there’s nothing more annoying or displeasing than muscle pain. I currently don’t have any issues with muscle or joint pain, but since my boyfriend’s workout regimen is strenuous, I was able to share one of the Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patches with him. Once opened it smelled mostly of menthol, but wasn’t as potent once removed from the packaging and placed on the skin. He thought it provided a really relaxing heat to the area and allowed him to recover more quickly. The patch was remarkably not greasy or messy at all to apply and it stayed in place for the hours he had it on.
Tiger Balm is a patch infused with herbal ingredients to tackle pain and aches naturally. The patch is a decent size to target problem areas, but they offer larger sizes for larger body parts. I personally get horrible lower back pain during my period so I am looking forward to trying the patch to alleviate pain. I am also not a fan of taking pills for everything, which makes this patch an excellent alternative. Considering how well the patch worked I am really excited to try out other products from Tiger Balm.

Check out the huge selection of products from Tiger Balm here.

I never in my life had anything but plain fruit flavored bears, making these chocolate-covered ones intriguing to experience. At first, I dove right in and chewed the whole bear up at once, but I found that the flavor was really unpleasant. However, when I ate the chocolate first by letting melt off the gummy bear I was able to appreciate the fruity flavor. As I was sharing these with my boyfriend, we struggled to determine which flavor was which, because they were all clear in color. The taste of the chocolate reminded me of tootsie rolls and the gummy bears underneath were delicious.
These bears come in a generous, shareable portion of approximately 20 gummies per bag. I love that they are GMO free, made with natural ingredients, and even certified Kosher. Neither my boyfriend or I are fans of the chocolate and fruit mix, but adventurous snackers will find these really enjoyable. For instance, I could see my students loving this unique variation on two classic snacks.

Goddess Garden - Organic Sun & Skin Care
This is not my first time using Goddess Garden’s Sun & Skin Care line, and I stand behind Goddess Garden’s belief that we should embrace our time in the sun, not avoid it. Their products are made with natural ingredients with no harsh chemicals and perfect for even the most sensitive skin. I personally won’t go out in the sun even during the winter months without some sort of protection, not only because I burn easily, but since I want to keep my skin as healthy as possible.
I received three decent sample sizes, which were enough to use it several times to get a feel of how each product works. The first sample that I started using immediately is the Dream Repair, a fortifying night cream that helps restore the day’s damage. The cream smells like nature with the licorice root and instantly feels nourishing on the face. It easily spreads and smooths into skin for a rich hydration.
The next two samples: Face the Day, a daily moisturizer and firming primer that contains 30 SPF, and Under the Sun,  a hydrating vitamin serum work together to combat wrinkles, nourish and increase elasticity of your skin. As recommended I used both together for a couple days. I started with Under the Sun after cleaning my face and let it soak into my skin before applying Face the Day cream.
Under the Sun is a yellow tinted serum that feels like oil but with the added benefits, a little goes extremely goes a long way with this serum to cover face and neck. After I have let it set for a while, I add Face the Day cream which instantly takes away the slickness of the serum and allows for makeup application. Overall, Goddess Garden delivers plant-based and cruelty-free skin and sun care products that not only healthy for your body, but for our environment as well.

I have been looking to add more clean snacking into my daily routine, so this BOSS Bars Sour Cherry Sunflower Seed Restore Bar couldn’t have come at a better time.
Since I am a nerd about recycling, one of the first things I noticed about the packaging is that it’s TIPA certified sustainable, which means its completely compostable. I am not really insistent that my diet be soy free, paleo or gluten free, but I am happy that it has no preservatives added. Perhaps the most appealing thing about this bar is that the list of ingredients is so incredibly simple.
With ingredients like dates, seeds, cherries and honey, the flavor is naturally excellent and makes me feel like I am eating something that is good for my body. I absolutely loved the soft, chewy texture and the fact I could taste the crunchy seeds. Looking over their website, I already see other flavors I would be very interested in trying including the Raspberry Almond and Banana Pumpkin Seed. These bars are rather expensive, but are very dense and have a lot of nutritious calories. If you’re trying to eat clean, you really can’t go wrong with these superfood bars.

Ethical Bean - Lush MediumDark Roast Coffee
I will never turn down trying new coffees, therefore I was excited to try Ethical Bean Lush Medium Dark Roast for the first time. The simple contemporary packaging stands out against the other coffees that I see on the supermarket shelf. Upon opening the coffee, I was overcome with a blend of earthy and smoky scents. The smell of the coffee as it was brewing filled the entirety of my home.
So far, I have tried the coffee two ways, black and with creamer added. When taken black the flavor is very bold and earthy, with a bitter aftertaste. When I added my usual concoction of creamer and instant latte foam, I can still taste earthy notes of the coffee but it cancels out the bitterness. I also love that this is a Fairtrade product meaning that all the hard labor put into this coffee is properly rewarded. In my opinion, the more ethical and sustainable products I can buy, the better. Overall, I loved this Ethical Bean coffee and after looking at their other varieties, I am interested in trying more. I wish it was available in stores since it is currently only offered via Amazon in the United States.

Zahlers - Prenatal+DHA 300 Supplements
I am not currently pregnant, but I am looking forward to having a child in the near future which means I am always on the lookout for good products to use for a healthy pregnancy. Zahler's packaging looks premium and would definitely catch my eye with it’s cute but simple design. The fact that these are made with pure and natural ingredients are really important to me, since I try to use all-natural products in my everyday life. It’s really encouraging to know that this vitamin includes critical ingredients like DHA and Folates that are important to develop cognition, motor function and vision in your growing baby.
The vitamins look like an average size for supplements and I don’t think I’d have any problem taking them on a daily basis. That said, I would never try these while not pregnant since there is research to suggest that it’s actually harmful for women who aren’t expecting. Furthermore, there is no evidence that it helps with hair and nail growth.

It’s my winter holiday and that means plenty of time off to enjoy some adult beverages. Herbal Zap Party Detox Herbal Supplement came in handy after a night having several cocktails, when I really needed to replenish my body with helpful herbs to soothe and detox. Although this says “party,” that doesn’t just mean alcohol, but if you eat too much or not enough sleep this will help alleviate your stomach and stress. Ingredients like ginger and black pepper are included to support digestion and detoxification, with turmeric to provide antioxidants.
Simply pour the packet into hot or cold water, stir and let natural remedies take effect. It tasted like ginger tea with a spicy kick and subtle sweetness, but only being 6 ounces, I was able to easily take it down. Within the hour I started feeling better and the sluggishness and slight headache were gone. I can see taking this not only after drinking, but also gruesome nights of homework and no sleep.

Let's talk, Period. Seventh Generation Accurate Labeling #ComeCean

Let’s talk, Period.
Growing up there was little talk or concern over my period. My mother wasn’t around much, and of course I was never comfortable speaking about it with my father. As long as I got what I needed (tampons and pads) there was nothing left to discuss. But things have changed over time, we need to be more forthright about what feminine products are made of. It’s very important for all women to know what ingredients they are putting into their body.
Seventh Generation Free & Clear Organic Cotton Tampons
An average woman in her lifetime will use 16,000 tampons. Currently there is no federal law that requires manufacturers to disclose ingredients in their tampons or pads. Protecting the right to know is important for all women in our lives. What’s the big deal? Check out what Seventh Generation has to say:

“Vaginal tissue is very sensitive, which means we should be extra careful about what’s coming into contact with it. The walls of the vagina are filled with numerous blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, which allows for direct transfer of chemicals in to the circulatory system. In fact, there is considerable interest in vaginal drug delivery systems because the vagina is such an effective site to transfer drugs directly into the blood without being metabolized first.

One study found that a vaginally applied dose of estradiol (an estrogen proxy) resulted in systemic estradiol levels in the body 10 to 80 times greater compared to the same dose given orally. So, you should really know what the heck is in the products you use around the vagina.

Right now, some companies tell you a little bit about what’s in their products. While tampon and pad manufacturers aren’t required to disclose ingredients, many do include some basic information on their packages about the ingredients — unless they use fragrance. A ‘fragrance’ in a product can be made up of 50-200 different ingredients, many for which health data simply doesn’t exist. This black box means that you could be exposing your body to fragrance ingredients without even knowing it.”

Some conscious companies are already doing what’s right for consumers by choosing to disclose which ingredients are in their products.

Seventh Generation made strides in advocating for transparency industry-wide by co-sponsoring a rally. On May 23, they joined with Women’s Voices for the Earth to tell Congress that we have the right to know what’s in the products we use so intimately. Congress can do their part by enacting a very simple, common-sense law proposed by Representative Grace Meng called the Menstrual Products Right to Know Act.

It’s past time that feminine care got the attention it deserves! #comeclean

Seventh Generation Free & Clear Baby Sample Kit

Salutations,

In my life I have pursued a career and education with children for six years plus I have learned a lot about the products that mothers and caregivers alike care about for their little ones. Learning more about Seventh Generation, I am excited to pass this information along and also keep in mind for when I am ready to start a family of my own.

The packaging of each of the three products I received are incredibly adorable and would definitely be something that would catch my eye. Although the packaging is adorable, it’s so much more than that. I was glad to learn about how each product is made, and how they not only keep your baby in mind, but also the parents and the environment.

Free & Clear Diapers

The Free & Clear diaper is made for a baby’s sensitive skin, is ultra-absorbent, and contains zero percent lotions or fragrances. I received two pairs of size 2 diapers, and right out of the bag they are noticeably soft inside and out. The design and characters on the diapers are super adorable! I like the fact that the quilted liner inside expands with more surface area to catch everything. The liner is extremely well thought out with a quilted design and softer material for newborns up to size 2, and is also made with unbleached cotton. The tabs are large enough and easy to use. The best feature, in my opinion, is that each diaper is made with sustainable sourced materials (wood fluff pulp) meaning it’s natural, renewable and biodegradable. Thinking about how many diapers get dumped into landfills in a year this is a step in the right direction to reduce waste.

I pleasantly surprised that the texture was silky smooth and great for a baby’s sensitive skin, and it spreads very easily. Just using a small dime size goes a long way and instantly my hand felt cool, hydrated and soft to touch. There is a very faint scent of coconut from the organic coconut oil. It’s made from sustainable ingredients that are plant-based so it’s great it contains NO sulfates, phthalates, parabens, formaldehyde donors, mineral oil or petrolatum. Definitely recommend to new moms and those who are looking for a greener more sustainable brand. Overall, a lightweight, lightly scented moisturizer that’s safe for your baby’s skin.

I can’t even count how many wipes I have used in a day at the daycare, so I know the importance of how a good wipe handles any situation, from an unfortunate blowout to an icky nose. These wipes are labeled fragrance free and I truly don’t smell anything. I think it is unnecessary for wipes to have a fragrance anyways because it just adds useless chemicals. These are made for sensitive skin like most products from Seventh Generation. It’s very important to think about the ingredients because every time you wipe you are essentially applying it directly onto your baby’s delicate skin. What’s great about Seventh Generation, unlike other major brands, is that it does not contain Phenoxyethanol (a chemical compound that can be an irritant to the skin). With that said, it also removes other harmful chemicals such as alcohol and parabens. Out of the packaging the wipes are definitely thicker than most I have used, but I love the fact that you are able to clean up more with a single wipe and still have the softness factor.

Overall, I'm very satisfied and thankful try out the sample pack I received from Generation Good. It’s a brand that I now trust and will turn to when I do have little bundles of my own someday. I love the transparency and the effort Seventh Generation gives to its products, consumers and production of the materials with sustainability and safeness in mind.
